The
crew:

Sturla
Hagen has been a part time crew member since 1999. As a young man he worked
on different passenger ferries, and has allways been very attached to the
sea. When he's not sailing with the Goxsheim, he's working as the technical
director at Bodø Kulturhus. Sturla is licenced to sail the Goxsheim.

Knut
Skoglund has been working as a part time crew member for the last 3
years. As a helmsman he's outstanding! Some years ago Knut wore his
welligtons on the deck of "Vika", a 36 feet traditional Norwegian fishing
boat. When not on the Goxsheim, he's working with film making.

Erling Steindal is our 3rd part time crew member. He has been so for the
last 4 years. It seems as if Erling is more fond of the sky and
the
sea than of land since he has his regular work as a captain in the
Norwgian airline Widerøe.
He is also licenced to sail the Goxsheim.

is, apart
from being the Latin name of the Northern Lights,
a small company
doing sailing ship cruises in Northern Norway
with the 74 feet gaff rigged cutter S/Y Goxsheim.
The company was
established in 1999 at the same time as the rebuilding of S/Y Goxsheim
started. The first trips were
made
during the
spring 2002
after the return from Arkhangelsk
where the rigging was done.
Since then we've
tried to do our very best to make interesting and adventurous trips in
Northern Norway, this in cooperation with agents abroad that have the same
approach to this as us: No mass tourism, a touch of idealism, a lot of
adventures and an experience for a lifetime.
We
do
hope
that
we manage to
live up to this.
Aurora Borealis is
the only company in Norway doing trips with a sailing ship
from late
February
till
early December.

The
crew:

Charles Wara is the skipper on and the owner of s/y Goxsheim. He has spent
the last 7 years devoted to the rebuilding and skippering of the ship.
As a real Northern Norway patriot, this part of the country is his back
yard, and he knows where to take you for the real experience.

Natalia K. Wara is the Aurora Borealis' business manager and the Goxsheim's
guarantee for an outstanding service for our guests. With her skilla as an
organizer and her eye on details, the ship will allways be a comfortable
stay for our guests. Natalia is also studing accounting at the Bodø
University College, and before she joined in with Charles and the Aurora
Borealis, she was the head of the economic departement at Solombola Shipyard in Arkhangelsk, Russia.
