take place from middle of February till late of May in the Lyngen and surrounding area (Kåfjord, Skjervøy, Vannøy etc) in the Northern part of the county of Troms and also in the Western part of the county of Finnmark. It is situated some 100 km’s North inside the Artic circle. The jagged and snow-covered peaks of The Lyngen Alps and the other mountains and islands in the area, and the blue endlessness of the fjords, straits and the Barents Sea is the perfect frame for our voyage.

The Lyngen Alps are said to be home to some of the most dramatic mountains in Norway, characterised by jagged peaks and sweeping glaciers offering up to 1800m of skiing descent. On board The Goxsheim, our “base camp” sailing ship, we will drop anchor in sheltered bays, natural harbours or dock in small fishing settlements, and access the mountain for the day either directly from the ship’s deck - or a little bit more challenging: By using the dinghy to put you on land. After 5-7 hours you'll be back, and you'll be served the ship’s Soup of the day with white bread. Something to look forward to!

The Sail and ski concept in Lyngen was originally developed by the Italian mountain guide Lucas Caspari in the 90s. Today several companies and boats are offering this service to those of you who love ski touring and off piste skiing, but our service and standard are said to be one of the best.

To book with us, you must have taken part in down hill off piste skiing before (intermediate level) and your physical condition has to be so that you can manage skinning for 4-6 hours and then going downhill. You'll have to arrange with equipment (randonee or telemark skis, poles, skins, avalanche transceiver etc) yourself.

The duration of a Sail and Ski trip is 8 days/7 nights (Saturday till Saturday), and the price is NOK 14.750,- pr. person

As on all of our other voyages, the price includes full board (big breakfast, lunch packet for the days trip, soup with baguettes when the trip is finished, 2 course dinner, non alcoholic beverages, some fruit and snacks) and lodging (fully prepared small double/twin cabins, towels etc), harbour fees, diesel , a skilled ski guide etc. All you need to bring along is suitable clothes and personal toilette requisites We use local guides that have been ski touring these areas for several years. And - we do not do trips without guides. They are obligatory! Flights and alcohol are not included.

If you are a guide that has a group and would like to book with us, please get in touch for more information about your prices and terms!

All trips 2008 are sold out. 2009 trips starts February 14th, and several weeks have been pre booked already. If you want to book we’ll advice you to get in touch as soon as possible.
